Lyons Competes At Mountain Range Mustang Invitational

On April 5, Lyons’ athletes participated in yet another highly competitive meet, the Mountain Range Mustang Track and Field Invitational at Mountain Range High School in Westminster. Due to spring break absences, the Lions boasted a small, yet powerful contingent of competitors producing thirteen personal records. After the weekend results were registered into Colorado Milesplit statistics, the 2A virtual meet shows the Lyons’ boys pulling slightly ahead of Cedaredge in the numbers game, while the Lady Lions continue to hold a solid second to Paonia.

Lyons Track and Field at Longmont Invitational

On Saturday, March 28, Lyons Track and Field participated in the highly competitive Longmont Invitational against top competition from across the state. The Lions competed well with approximately twenty-six personal bests and some excellent early season marks, which left a striking impact on the 2A state leader board. The season is indeed looking bright for the hometown team.

Opening Week For Lyons Track & Field

The 2015 season officially opened with the RE-1J  District Meet held at Longmont’s Everly-Montgomery Field on March 10. Senior Tullef Rudlong ran well in the sprints with third place finishes in both the 100M and 200M, respectively running 11.64 and 24.13. In the 1600M run, the Lyons’ distance crew accumulated points with Paul Roberts (Jr.) taking first in 4:30.92, Matt Dillon (Sr.) fourth in 4:45.94, and Joel Such (Jr.) sixth in 4:48.9. Senior Ryan Smith placed second in the high jump with a personal record match of 5’10” and finished fourth in the 300M hurdles with 44.18. The Lyons High School boys’ basketball team hosted Clear Creek in the first round of district play-offs on Tuesday, February 24. This was a must win for the Lions to keep their play-off hopes alive. Lady Lions Season Ends In Loveland

The Lyons High School girls’ basketball team traveled to Loveland last week (Tuesday, February 24) to take on the number two seeded 2A team, Resurrection Christian. The Lady Lions needed a win to advance into the regional tournament. Despite their contrasting season records, the Lady Lions lost to Resurrection by just a single point during their regular season match up.
