Two days after the rescheduled Boulder County Track and Field Championships, Lyons participated in the Stutler Bowl Twilight Invitational in Greenwood Village on Friday, April 22. The only small school in a field of 4A and 5A schools, Lyons produced several significant performances. The meet highlight for Lyons was Brenna Kuskie’s 11’0” vault, which broke her previous school record of 10’7” set earlier this season.
Other notable performances for the girls were Sierra Tucker’s sixth place finish in 2:21.69 and CeAnn Udovich’s ninth place finish in a PR of 2:23.62 in the 800M. Tucker and Udovich respectively hold the number one and two positions in both the 800M and 3200M runs. While not a scoring performance, the 4x400M crew of Sierra Tucker, Erika Ivkov, Ashley Sowders, and CeAnn Udovich significantly ran a SB of 4:16.35, placing Lyons third on the 2A leaderboard for that event. For the boys, Paul Roberts outran Monarch’s Isaac Green to claim the win in the 1600M with 4:23.99. Both placing fifth, Owen George vaulted 13’6” and Lars Basey jumped 42’00.25” in the triple jump.
Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches for representing small school track and field and the Town of Lyons with excellence. Next up, Lyons Track and Field competes at the Ram Charger Invitational at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood on April 30.
