Dear Lyons Community,
It’s been a bit over two weeks now since the “1000 year flood” in Lyons and surrounding areas, with effects to these communities that run deep. Our community here in Lyons has proven itself to be giving, supporting, compassionate, hard-working, and downright amazing! Sincere thanks from us at The GearSPOT goes out to all of those lending a helping hand during this time of uncertainty.
Our business has also felt side effects of the flooding. Although The GearSPOT was untouched by the waters, we were very hard hit by the lack of income and the closure of town. With no foreseeable “fix” to the town of Lyons anytime soon, we regret to inform you that we are calling it quits. Under these circumstances, we simply can’t afford to keep our doors open.
This is exactly where The GearSPOT stands at the moment… We have moved out of our space in the Lyons Village Center, and now have all of the inventory at my home. There are two aspects to our business: one was the actual inventory (consignor items), and the other was the consignor account balances (moneys owed for items sold). To be very honest with you all, we don’t have enough money in the bank to pay off the total consignor paybacks. That being said, we will honor all of our debts if need be! If you are a consignor that has a balance due to you, we are willing to write letters of “donation” (for tax deductions) to those of you who would be willing to forego your paybacks. This would be sincerely appreciated by The GearSPOT! However, if you are in no position to do that, and need your balance paid back, we will do our best to get a check sent your way.
If you are a consignor that still has items in inventory, there are also some options for you… If you are not interested in getting back your items, we will gladly donate them for you. There are many people out there in need at the moment! If you would like your items back, we will gladly return them to you. This could be a bit tricky with the situation in Lyons at the moment. If you can come and go from Lyons, you can pick them up at my home, 2 miles from downtown. If you are unable to get through the checkpoint, please let me know and I will do my best to get them to you outside of town.
Please just email back with what you would like us to do with your account, or if you would like to know where your account stands at the moment. The GearSPOT would like to thank you all for your support! And we are sending along lots of light, love, and positive energy during these very challenging and uncertain times! Wishing you all the best… (and, by the way, I am now looking for employment if anyone has any leads!!)
