A great football team deserves the support of a great town. Two big events are coming up in September surrounding our first two home football games. The first is the annual Lyons Community Barbecue, before the first home football game on Friday, September 6. The second is a Lyons Homecoming Parade, on Friday, September 20.
The 17th Annual Lyons Community Barbecue will take place on Friday, September 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., just before kick-off of the first home game against
Yuma High School. We have learned over the years that Yuma travels very well, and will bring their share of fans. So come to the game early and have a great meal under the big white tent. If you paid to get into the game the barbecue is free.
Two weeks after the barbecue game will be the Lyons Homecoming. This year we are reviving an old tradition with a Homecoming Parade. It will occur on game day, Friday, September 20. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the parade will leave the high school, travel into town, go down Main Street from Third to Fifth Avenues, and loop up High Street where we will pass the Elementary School. The parade will then return back to the high school where students will be released. That evening Lyons will host Clear Creek High School for the homecoming game. Kick-off will be at 7 p.m.
Put these days on your calendar, and let’s show the Yuma Indians and the Clear Creek Gold Diggers what “Lyons Pride” is all about.
