With support from Boulder County, the Town of Lyons has continued its EcoPass program for all Town residents, through 2017. The only change to the program from previous years is that there will now be a $25 annual fee for the EcoPass that will be due before the end of March (the pass has a retail value of over $1,800).
In the next few weeks, details will be sent out via Town emails and the local newspapers on how payment can be made. Passes that have not been “recharged” will be
deactivated effective March 31, 2017. Until that time, current EcoPasses will remain active; no one needs to worry, or do anything straight away. Just keep using and enjoying free public transit!
For those not already familiar with the program, the EcoPass is RTD's unlimited transit pass that allows users to travel for free on any RTD bus and light rail services. This includes the “Y” service from Lyons to/from Boulder, busses to the airport, and busses and light rail in and around Boulder, Longmont, and Denver. The Town of Lyons has been issuing EcoPasses to its residents for free for the last five years, and while there is now a small fee the Town hopes most riders will still take advantage of this service.
