June 11, 1940 – July 1, 2013
After thirty-seven years in Longmont, Frank M. Namesnik, age 73, passed into eternal life on Monday, July 1, following complications related to heart failure, while visiting friends and family in Warren, Ohio.
Frank was born June 11, 1940, in Warren, to Stephen I. and Magdalena Bahat Namesnik. He was very active in Newton Falls, participating in basketball and drama, as well as achieving Eagle Rank in Boy Scouts. In 1958, he attended
Youngstown University with academic and athletic scholarships. During college he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Student Council, and the Dean’s Council at the engineering school.
Frank began working for the IBM Corporation in Endicott, N.Y., in 1963. For the next twenty-five years, he was in IBM’s Federal Systems Division involving military and NASA programs. After transferring to the Boulder facility in 1977, he was in the Office Products Division. Following his retirement in 1993, Frank became certified as a Master Electrician and started his own business, Foothills Electric.
Frank married Carole A. Walton in 1964. The two made countless memories with their four children. He built their home in the foothills of Lyons, and enjoyed many years encouraging his children’s interests, and as an active member in Lyons Catholic Community and Lyons Lions Club. He enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with his sons and his hunting camp friends. Frank deeply loved the mountains and the outdoors, referring to it often as God’s country. During his later years, Frank enjoyed traveling with his wife, took up golf, and thoroughly enjoyed his five wonderful grandchildren. He was a member of the International Order of Rocky Mountain Goats (a.k.a, the Old Goats Club), and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Frank is survived by his wife, Carole, his children, Jeffrey D. (Joni) of Loveland, David F. (Michelle) of Fort Collins, Cynthia L. (Jim) Chapman of Highlands Ranch, and Kimberly S. (Bob) Gordon of Moorpark, CA, his five grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Kiana, Luke, and Amanda, his sister, Elizabeth (Jim) Schmidt of Cortland, OH, his brother, Steve Jr. (Cathy) of Newton Falls, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Longmont. Frank’s ashes will be blessed during the funeral ceremony. A time of fellowship may be shared with the family following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Frank Namesnik Memorial Fund; eventually a scholarship fund will be set up.
