Aspen
By Alexa DiSalvo

Sunflower in the dark
Sparks so bright
When you walk from the shadows
Into my sight

What strange distant shores
You have traveled from
I wrote you so many love letters
Drifting in bottles just out of reach

Until tonight

You ask me to recite
But we rewrite the poems together
Our severed roots replanted
Shared earth and a dream
To reach toward the light

Already
Tangling below the soil
As one labyrinth
Thriving
Inseparable
From the moment we meet.
