Erie-based Outdoor Craftsmen was recently recognized at The ELITE Awards by the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC) for its work on a highly sustainable landscape in Lyons. This year, the company placed as one of two finalists in the category of Sustainability.

To complete the residential landscape in Lyons, Outdoor Craftsmen designed an outdoor space that incorporated sustainable practices throughout the construction process. The company extensively reused existing materials and selected locally sourced materials for the project, incorporated native plants, used xeric landscaping

techniques and installed water-saving irrigation for a truly efficient and sustainable landscape.

The ELITE Awards presented by ALCC and sponsored in 2018 by Colorado Materials, Inc., and Hunter Industries/FX Luminaire, is the only program of its kind in Colorado and honors outstanding landscapes and personnel within the profession. Award-winning projects reflect the 21st Century values of sustainability, service and environmental stewardship.

According to ALCC Executive Director John McMahon, The ELITE Awards illustrate how Colorado’s landscape companies deliver innovation, best management practices, originality, professionalism and problem solving for their clients.

“These awards celebrate the connections between companies and clients to create and maintain landscapes that support healthy lifestyles,” said McMahon.
