The Lyons Good Old Days celebration planning is underway! The Town of Lyons and the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce are seeking community-minded individuals with a knack for organizing and collaborating to come take part in putting on one of Lyons’ most celebrated events that is rooted in history and reunions of old and new friends alike.
This year's event will take place on Saturday, June 30, and will be held in Sandstone Park, right in the heart of downtown Lyons. The committee is also exploring options for a permanent home for the event in the future.
In the meantime, there is need for volunteers to help organize and run the various events on Saturday June 30. We will have live music featuring local bands, and a performance by the Mayama dancers. Listed below are some fun events that have occurred in the past that need people to champion them; please reach out if you are interested in taking on coordinating any of these events or activities: Horseshoe Tournament, Volleyball, Tug-o-War, Pickle Ball, Bingo, Community Theatre, Dunk Tank, Teen Dance, Photo Booth, Loggers Rodeo, Water Ride/Event, Petting Zoo, Community Picnic, Kidspace, Face Painting, Disc Dogs, Fishing Tournament, Medallion Hunt, and Talent Show.
We realize that we cannot accommodate all of these activities this year, so keep your sights on next year also, when we hope to have a permanent home.
Even though it’s only one day this year, we are still calling it Good Old Days because we plan to restore the event back to two days, beginning next year.
Please reach out to Marissa at the Town of Lyons, (303) 823-8250, if interested or to participate in the planning of an activity. Alternatively, you can go to the Facebook page named Lyons Good Old Days Committee, and submit a request to join the group. Thank you!
