Anna M. Rose
March 1, 1919 – February 13, 2017
Ann Rose passed away February 13, at Good Samaritan Society Fort Collins Village. She was 97 years old. Mrs. Rose was a secretary at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas prior to her marriage. She was born in Pleasanton, Iowa, and attended schools in Iowa as well as Iowa State College. She moved to San Antonio, Texas, from Des Moines, Iowa, with her parents when her

father retired. It was there she met and married Willard A. “Al” Rose. They were married on February 27, 1946, after he was discharged from the Army.

They made their home in Colorado and lived on ranches northwest of Lyons, Colorado, also near Estes Park and Allenspark, Colorado before retiring to Longmont. They raised Registered Polled Hereford cattle and were always interested in 4-H. She was a 4-H leader and was active in the Lyons Methodist Church working with preschool age children. She was a member of the LifeBridge Christian Church, Longmont, at the time of her death. After moving to Longmont, Mrs. Rose worked as a bookkeeper for the Pope Implement Company until the owners retired and sold their business. She also volunteered many years at both the Longmont Museum and the Longmont United Hospital.

She volunteered many years in Collections and devoted many years to organizing and updating the Museum’s large photo collection. She also made over three hundred padded coat hangers for the Collection’s clothing donations. She will be remembered as a Godly woman who loved the Lord and was devoted to her family, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband W. A. Rose in 1993; her son-in-law Carl Milacek and her sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bob Holland.

Mrs. Rose is survived by her daughters Mary Jo Milacek of Longmont and Bonnie (Steve) Smitherman of Berthoud; her grandchildren Pamela (Dave) Grever, Steve Milacek, and Katelyn (Steven) Smitherman-Elkins; her great grandchildren Taylor (Cameron) Dettmann, Alec Cipri, Rebecca Anne Milacek and Brecken Elkins; her great-great-grandchildren Noah and Brody who is on the way; and her sister-in-law Patricia (Ron) Pope.

At Ann’s request a memorial celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 25 from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Berthoud Community Senior Center, 248 Welch Avenue, Berthoud.
