Leon Alan Milacek passed away January 21, at his home in Lyons, Colorado at age 65.
Leon was born on July 16, 1950 in Enid, Oklahoma to Leon George and Margie Mae (Geist) Milacek. Leon attended school in Longmont from the fifth grade on, graduating from Longmont High School in 1968.
On October 16, 1976 he married Mary Ann Cooper and they were together for forty-three years.
Leon worked for Valley Excavating for thirteen years before owning and operating Rembrandt Excavating. Sons Aaron and Justus helped run the business over the years.
Leon loved being at his beautiful log home in the mountains that he hand built, as well as spending time with his family, friends, gardening, canning, and other numerous projects. He was very creative and always willing to share his wisdom with anyone who asked.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and brother Carl Milacek. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; his sons Justus (Summer) and Aaron (Andrea); his daughter Andie (Jim); his grandchildren Erykah, Asia, Ileah, Niko, and Angela; his brother Alan Milacek of Waukomis, OK; and his sister Barbara Schwindt of Los Animas, CO. Leon a.k.a. “Pappy” will be deeply missed by all of us.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the River Church, 18668 North St. Vrain Drive, Lyons, on Saturday, January 30, at 2 p.m. Carpooling is recommended.
Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Leon Milacek memorial fund in c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
