After a one-year hiatus, the RE-1J District meet was reinstated by the folks at Mead High School, and the meet for the nine district high schools saw some strong performances as the schools all head into spring break this last week of March. The meet was a mixture of varsity and junior varsity athletes with an expanded number of entries, and the performances also counted in the state rankings as athletes continue to pursue top-18 state

 

 

This year’s edition of the Lyons High School track team features sixty-nine hard-working student-athletes, and the Lions came roaring into the 2017 season with two meets in Pueblo on Saturday, March 11, and the following Saturday, March 18, sandwiching their home relay meet on Wednesday,

 

 

The Lyons High School girls basketball team missed going to state but, this season was epic. When you think that just two seasons ago the Lions won only five games over the entire season. They won nineteen games this year! It is an outstanding turnaround.  The Lady Lions won the championship title in district 7, they were second in the Mile High League, and based on their win/loss record they were ranked sixth in 2A. The C and JV Lyons High School boys’ basketball teams continue to improve their skills and teamwork and played four different schools in eight days. Most players compete on both the C and JV teams.

The JV Lyons High School boys’ basketball team had a fantastic game against Front Range Christian High School on Tuesday, February 7. The young Lions found themselves down at half-time 20 to 30, and it looked like the Falcons might fly away with the win.  However, the

 

 

The Lyons High School varsity boys’ basketball team played a game at Longmont Christian on Friday, February 10, and a home game on Tuesday, February 14 (Senior Night). First, to the Longmont game.  Going into the game, the home town team had a record of 8 wins and 9 losses; Longmont’s record stood at 14 and 2. The Pride’s record dropped to 8 and 10 at the game’s conclusion, having lost 72 to 47. At
