The Lyons High School varsity boys’ basketball team played a pair of games last week. They played a home game against Twin Peaks Charter Academy and an away game against Dayspring Christian Academy in Greeley. They won the home match, and lost on the road.
First the good news. The game against Twin Peaks was played on Tuesday, January 31, and the local boys escaped with a 41 to 25 win. “Escaped,”
The Lyons High School girls’ varsity basketball team won their last two games, and now post an impressive record for the season of fourteen wins against only two loses. They are currently second in their league, first in district and have moved up to sixth in the state RPI rankings.

The Lyons High School girls’ basketball team went on a scoring binge last week, and defeated Nederland handily by a score of 52 to 13. Sarah Hall had a career high of thirteen points. The win elevated the Lady Lions record for the season to twelve and one!
Lyons second game of the week, a road game against Denver Christian was an entirely different scenario. The Lion’s struggled in a defensive dog fight against the Thunder in one of the lowest scoring games in recent memory.

The Lyons High School boys’ JV and C basketball teams played three very different games last week. On Tuesday, January 17, they faced a very strong Highland program (their varsity is ranked #1 in 2A). The Lyons High School girls' basket ball team is having a great season. They upped their record to 11-1 on the season, are tied for first in their league, first in district, and currently ranked #1 among 2A schools in the most recent CHSSA RPI system! This will be important at the end of the season when the seeding takes place for regionals. First they made the trek to Ault to take on the Highland Huskies on Tuesday, January 17; then it was off to the big city to try and wrangle the Mustangs of Denver Academy on Thursday, January 19.
