By Heather Evans & Bella Alexander
To our favorite Lyons High School Volleyball Friends & Fans! The 2018 season is underway and what a season it has been thus far! Coming off the high of winning state in 2017, we find ourselves in a bit of a rebuilding year. With eight seniors off to life after high school, the Lyons welcomed eight new faces, seven freshman and one transfer student-athlete from Texas. Our coaching staff saw changes as well. We hired a new head coach in Heather Evans and a new C team coach in Marcus Richardson. Paula

Maguire remains on staff as the JV coach. Bella Alexander stepped up as team manager and Rachel Slotman takes care of us as the Athletic Trainer. Although this game is all about the student-athletes, we are very blessed to have an experienced, dedicated and, ultimately, FUN staff.

This season, the coaching staff has made it a priority to unite all volleyball fans, families, and players at Lyons Middle/Senior High School and in the community. The high school team attends the middle school matches and vice versa. Theme nights have been added to the high school home matches with a fun-interactive "half-time" promo between sets two and three. The student body has been amazing in supporting the program by not only attending home matches, but even away tournaments and events.

This kind of support makes this entire experience most enjoyable.

Please mark your calendars! Our next theme night, "Dig Pink," is Tuesday, October 9, against Twin Peaks. The night will be dedicated to spreading awareness, support, and love for those surviving and battling breast cancer. Spectators are encouraged to wear pink.

The final theme night, "Senior Night" is Thursday, October 18 against Highland. Seniors, Ava McCall and Kylen Christiansen, will play in their final regular season match as Lyons volleyball players. Help us send these two off into their next chapter by filling the stands. They will be missed beyond measure.

The Lions' record sits on a 5-4 record overall, and 2-0 in league play. Tuesday, September 18, we faced Denver Christian, a powerhouse state-wide as they rank top five.
