The Lyons High School volleyball team had a nice quiet ride up the mountain with their favorite driver Dan last week to face off against the Nederland Panthers. The JV squad cruised to a comfortable and controlled straight set victory, while the Varsity girls were equally dominating with an impressive straight set win, 25-9, 25-6, and 25-11.

The Lions had a nice spread attack on the night, getting everyone involved in the victory. Taylor Maguire led the way with a dozen kills, followed by Hall with eight. Leeuwenburgh chipped in with six kills on seven attacks, and four other Lions added kills to the stat column. Kylen Christiansen did an excellent job moving the ball

around for her attackers and tallied twenty-eight assists. Leeuwenburgh and Maguire each notched six aces from the service line. It was, however a quiet night for the defense, seeing little action. The team was still able to total twenty-seven digs.

The girls had Thursday night off since the previously scheduled Resurrection game was moved up to an earlier date this season. This “day off” gave the girls some needed rest and some good practice time to get ready for the upcoming district tournament. Go Lions!
