Letter From St. Vrain Valley Schools with regarding relocation of Lyons Elementary School & Middle/Senior High School.
Dear Parents and Guardians of Lyons Elementary & Lyons Middle/Senior High Schools:
I would like to convey my deep concern for the devastation endured by many of you in Lyons and surrounding areas. Yesterday, I visited the Town of Lyons and I have been in communication with town officials and law enforcement. Additionally, I visited LifeBridge Church, the evacuation site for many residents.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and that our District stands ready to assist you.
In order to provide as much support as possible for our children, the District is finalizing plans to restart school for Lyons K-12 students during the week of September 23.
Until normal access to the Town of Lyons and other public safety concerns have been fully addressed, both Lyons Elementary and Lyons Middle/Senior will reopen for students at the Old Longmont High School, 820 Main Street in Longmont. Start times and dates are:
Level Date Start Time End Time
High School Mon., Sept. 23 7:30 A.M. 2:55 P.M.
Middle School Tues., Sept. 24 7:50 A.M. 2:53 P.M.
Elementary School Wed., Sept. 25 8:30 A.M. 2:20 P.M.
On the evening of Wednesday, September 18, the District will hold important parent information meetings to review the school relocation plan and answer questions. These meetings will be held at the Longmont High School Auditorium, 1040 Sunset Street in Longmont.
Elementary School 5:00 P.M.
Middle/Senior High School 6:30 P.M.
For parents who are stranded or are otherwise unable to attend these meetings, I encourage you to contact your principal as soon as possible for information about the relocation plan.
We are also in the early phases of developing a plan for Lyons preschool students. While it is not yet known when preschool activities will resume for our families, preschool parents are also encouraged to attend the 5:00 P.M. parent meeting on September 18 at the Longmont High School Auditorium.
Once again, my thoughts are with you during this very difficult time and please know that we are making effort to provide our children a quick return to a safe and nurturing school environment.
