Mountain Strong

After the devastating September floods, Gary and Kris Hazelton of Estes Park, came up with a design for a T-shirt. They approached Ron Shumate and Tim Buck of Trail Ridge Printing in Estes Park, and an idea was born, “Mountain Strong.”

The shirts are sold online and at various area outlets, including at the Lyons Holiday Bazaar last weekend. Fifty percent of all the proceeds from sales during a specific time period are donated to a designated mountain town that was impacted by the flood (Estes Park, Pinewood Springs, Allenspark, Glen Haven, Big Elk Meadow, Lyons, and Drake). Last Thursday, December 12, Shumate and Buck came down to Lyons to present the Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) with a check for five thousand dollars. The money will go toward the foundation’s Rebuild Lyons – One Life At A Time grant program. LCF Chair Dr. Liz Erley says the grant applications have been reviewed, and the grants ($500 to $5,000) for Lyons area families, individuals, and business owners should be in the mail by Christmas!
